The dollar edged down on Tuesday as attention turned to who would be the next head of the U.S. central bank.
The dollar index, which tracks the greenback against a basket of six major rivals, edged down 0.1 percent to 93.817 .DXY.

However, U.S. President Donald Trump is considering nominating Fed Governor Jerome Powell and Stanford University economist John Taylor for the central bank's top two jobs. Powell is considered less hawkish than Taylor, who is seen advocating higher interest rates.
