• The Dow Jones Industrial Average .DJI fell 458.92 points, or 1.9 percent, to end at 23,644.19 after dipping below its 200-day moving average. The S&P 500 .SPX fell 58.99 points, or 2.23 percent, to2,581.88 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC dropped 193.33 points, or 2.74 percent, to 6,870.12.

Wall Street shares plunged on Monday as investors fled technology stocks amid resurgent trade war worries, with key indexes trading below their 200-day moving averages and the S&P 500 closing below that pivotal technical level for the first time since Britain’s vote to leave the European Union in June 2016.

• Asian shares slid in early Tuesday trade, with Japan leading losses in the region after markets stateside came under pressure from the drop in tech stocks and trade-related worries.

• Japan's Nikkei 225 fell 1.41 percent amid broad-based losses. The broader Topix slid 1.04 percent, with just the electric and gas sector index trading higher in the morning.

Over in South Korea, the Kospi slid 0.82 percent.
