Australia stocks rise; Tokyo Stock Exchange suspends trading due to technical issue
Japan’s Tokyo Stock Exchange suspended trading on Thursday due to a technical issue, while many major markets in the region are closed for holidays.
Meanwhile, the S&P/ASX 200 in Australia gained 0.87%. Singapore’s Straits Times index also rose 0.87%.
In Japan, the Tokyo Stock Exchange announced Thursday that trading has been halted, and it’s unclear when it will resume.
Markets in China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan are closed on Thursday for holidays.
Overall, the MSCI Asia ex-Japan index traded 0.19% higher.
