Japan stocks rise as major markets in Asia-Pacific are closed for holidays
Shares in Japan nudged higher in Monday morning trade, as many major Asia-Pacific markets are closed for holidays.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.71% while the Topix index advanced 0.35%.
South Korea’s Kospi, on the other hand, slipped 0.27%.
MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan traded little changed.
Markets in Australia, mainland China and Hong Kong are closed on Monday for holidays.
