Asia-Pacific markets trade mixed as investors turn cautious

Asia-Pacific markets traded mostly lower on Friday as investors turned cautious.

Australia’s ASX 200 fell 0.61% as most sectors stumbled. Energy and materials were down 1.4% and 1.2%, respectively, while the heavily-weighted financials subindex lost 0.44%.

The Japanese market returned to trade after being closed Thursday for a holiday. The benchmark Nikkei 225 erased some of its early trade declines but still traded down 0.17% and the Topix index was fractionally higher.

In South Korea, the Kospi index traded near flat.
