Asian stocks rose for a second day, tracking a gain in U.S. equities as Apple Inc. jumped after Berkshire Hathaway Inc. disclosed a stake in the iPhone maker and oil companies climbed on higher crude prices.
The MSCI Asia Pacific Index added 0.2 percent to 126.63 as of 9:01 a.m. in Tokyo. Japan's Nikkei .N225 gained about 1.0 percent.
Wall Street rallied sharply on Monday, juiced by a jump in Apple shares and gains from energy stocks that were backed by stronger oil prices.
The Dow Jones industrial average closed up 175.39 points, or 1 percent, at 17,710.71, the S&P 500 closed up 19.92 points, or 0.97 percent, at 2,066.53 and the Nasdaq composite closed up 57.78 points, or 1.22 percent, at 4,775.46.
