Clinton wins, Trump exceeds expectations, but few move
Hillary Clinton scored a second victory over Donald Trump in Sunday night's presidential debate, according to debate watchers in a new CNN/ORC poll. But even though he trailed Clinton overall, Trump far exceeded debate watchers' expectations.
Among voters who watched the debate, 57% said Clinton did the best job in the face-off at Washington University in St. Louis, while just 34% thought Trump did. That's a less commanding victory for Clinton than in the first debate, but she still boosted her edge over Trump among debate watchers on handling the economy and being the stronger leader.
IMF’s Largarde suggests sexism is at play in Wall Street’s criticism of Yellen
Some of the criticism from Wall Street aimed at Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen is due to sexism, International Monetary Fund managing director Christine Lagarde suggested Sunday.
“[Yellen] receives a lot more criticism, in my view, than many of her predecessors in many ways, given the great job she is doing,” Lagarde said during in a conversation with author Michael Lewis before a large audience at IMF headquarters.
Many on Wall Street have said the Yellen Fed lacks a clear road map for interest-rate policy and has suffered from poor communication.
Oil prices fell on Monday
Oil prices fell on Monday over doubts that an OPEC-led plan to cut output would rein in a global oversupply that has dogged markets for over two years. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures CLc1 were down 39 cents or 0.78 percent, at $49.42 a barrel.
