U.S. stocks slipped from two-week highs on Tuesday as results and forecasts from companies in sectors including housing and consumer products failed to live up to expectations.
The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI fell 53.76 points, or 0.3 percent, to 18,169.27, the S&P 500 .SPX lost8.17 points, or 0.38 percent, to 2,143.16 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC dropped 26.43 points, or 0.5percent, to 5,283.40.
Asian shares tumbled in early trade on Wednesday, following in the footsteps of Wall Street, which pulled back on disappointing earnings, while the dollar inched down from a seven-month high and oil prices slid.
MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan .MIAPJ0000PUS slipped 0.3 percent.
Japan's Nikkei .N225 lost 0.2 percent, while South Korea's KOSPI .KS11 dropped 0.8 percent and Australia fell1.4 percent.
