MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan .MIAPJ0000PUS rose 0.6 percent, led by gains in Hong Kong .HSI and Taiwan .TWII.

Japanese shares erased early losses to end mostly higher on Monday as domestic investors scooped up financials and defensive shares, helping the broader Topix index to log a rise for a twelth consecutive day.

The Nikkei ended down 0.1 percent at 18,356.89, as bargain hunters brought the index back from an early fall of 0.9 percent.

China's blue-chip CIS300 Index rose for the sixth straight session, with upbeat industrial profit data strengthening belief that the Chinese economy has bottomed out, making risk assets such as equities more attractive than bonds.

The blue-chip CSI300 index rose 0.4 percent, to 3,535.08 points, while the Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.5 percent to 3,277.00points, both hitting their highest levels since early January.
